The Big Baptismal...

Well, after church today we caravaned over to the pond and Sam, Austin and Katie were baptised. It was really a BEAUTIFUL day and the whole thing was blessed. Kay and Rod were there and a non-church-going friend even saw us there as he drove by and stopped to watch it. Here is Sam going under...

and here he is washed clean :) !!

Afterwards, many of our church family stopped over to the house where Katie and I had soup and bread ready. It went perfectly and we had a large turnout. We have a great church family!!

Maggie and Sam are back now, and true to form...Maggie is driving us nuts already! Whining and bugging and generally just being VERY HIGH MAINTENANCE. Two more days until school starts (yipee). Maggie spent part of the afternoon trying on clothes so she could decide what she wants to wear to school on the first day. I'll try to remember to post pics of that too!!! (The first day of school that is...)

It is good to have Sam back! He's definitely my easy kid. Maggie and Liam make me appreciate Sam's good nature! He starts middle school Wednesday. I think he's eager. He's happy with his new clothes and his new bookbag and I think he has himself all puffed up. Hopefully, He never loses that self-confidence! I'll be sure to keep you posted...

Love to you all!!!!

I pledge that this blog will not be a christmas newsletter!!! You will get the nitty gritty...the bad days and bad grades and all! I love you all! Let me know how you like it!!

My First Time!

Okay - Here it goes. I have to confess I'm really impressed with this blog thing Katie has going and I've decided that since MySpace is just way to much for my internet connection I'll try this out! Things in the Garrett household are totally off kilter right now. Maggie and Sam are at Kay and Rod's house for a few days (Jon's Mom and Dad). I'd say it's really quiet without them here, but let's be honest... Liam is still here :)! He is driving me crazy. I never realized how dependant he is on his siblings. He just doesn't enjoy things without them. He was so sad all the way home and I feel sorry for him that he couldn't go. But, he signed up for football and it's fairly steady and high maintenance.

Last Friday we went to the Fredericktown vs. Highland football game at home. It was eye opening. I didn't know there were that many people around out here! The kids had a great time. So did Jon and I actually. It was kind of expensive (for us). It's a sad commentary on America when going to a small town highschool football game with your family costs $40. Sorry, maybe we're just cheap:) . Sam ran off with his friends and it kind of breaks my heart how grown up he's getting. He informed me last week that he thinks he may want to play football next year for the 7th grade (middle school). I have to admit I'm not the fondest of the idea. It's funny how you can be so proud of them and scared for them at the same time. Liam's doing ok in football I guess. He's surprisingly shy of contact...everyone tells me it's just a first year thing and he'll get over it. Which is great but will I get over it? He's only had one bruise so far, it was a doozy but he's been playing for about a month so I can't really complain about one bruise. I'm sure he had that in baseball too. Maggie is doing well in cheer. I had to give her some PEP talks though. She's one of the youngest and the smallest on her squad and she's not used to chants at all. This is very different from the cheer she did before. She had some adjusting but she has finally started belting them out and if i say nothing else about it all...

Darnit, aren't they cute...
Alright, I have failed 2 attempts to post a picture here. I'll get it figured out and add pics next time!!

The first day of school is fast approaching. I'm ready for fall! It's my absolute favorite season. Ohio State Football starts Saturday and Sam is getting baptised Sunday ( so are his best friend Austin and my best friend Katie) so we are looking forward to an incredibly blessed weekend!!
I'll be sure to tell you all about it!!! and hopefully I'll figure out the stupid picture thing!!!
Love to you all from Jon, Cheryl, Sam, Liam and Whiny (I mean Maggie :) )
